Contract for Creation of the Waynesville Water Shed
“Then the next thing I've got is the 1923 contract from the Hayward Lumber and Mining Company selling the land where the Waynesville watershed now is, at the West Bank of the Shiny Creek. J.H. Howell was the mayor at that time, and this contract kind of symbolizes how important our water system is now to the area. It's some of the cleanest water in the country. All the water in Haywood County starts in Haywood County, which is rare. The contract I found for sale on Ebay with some other mining contracts from Waynesville.”
